PROJECT 2A - PART 2 : MY OWN DOUBLE EXPOSURE

Based on the double exposure exercise before, in this part, I need to create the same thing but this time using my won photo in it by following these steps :

  1. Take a photo of myself with clear and great lighting.

  2. Import and stack the photos

  3. Refine some photos with layer mask

  4. Adjust opacity & tones

Progress :

Fig 4 Import and select

Firstly, I import my picture and select me out with the masking layer technique and change to color to black and white then adjust the color value a bit.

Fig 4.1 Import and Stack

Next, I import the other photos that I wanted to use and stack it so I can have a rough vision on my composition. I also did the same technique - layer masking, with others photos to so i can take and cut out the part that i want.

Fig 4.2 Refine and Clipping Mask

After I'm sure with my composition, I proceed to refine my elements by clipping them to layers by using clipping mask, so it stays in the object selected.

Fig 4.3 Adjust opacity and tone

Lastly, I adjust some of my elements opacity and decided to go with a blue and yellowish tone by using gradient map. And I'm done with my own double exposure.

This double exposure was based on myself, which every elements have meaning to it. A diver in the middle of my heart means that I'm a deep feeler, sensitive person. The exposed head with foggy cloud shows that I'm the type of person who likes to be active in my own thoughts 24/7 and the type to overthink things easily.

REFLECTION

Experience - I finally understood how people created double exposure artwork and how to make it look emotional just with few photos and simple editing.

Observation - I realized that this assignment is quite similar to collage since we combine some elements and pictures together, but the difference is, in double exposure we can play with effects, mood, transparency, and we can blend the photos together.

Findings - I find this task quite interesting and I think it's not that hard, it's like doing collage digitally but with extra steps and effects to play around.
