WEEK 10 PROJECT 4 - SELF TITLED

Idea development

 

1. We were asked to make a biography about ourself

INTRO	My name is Felice Lee, born and grew up in Indonesia. I am an ambivert person who enjoys both outdoor and indoor activities but I prefer spending time alone (me time). This was the second semester of my degree, and this this subject is quite fun and also challenging to me. This subject is fun I learned a lot of new stuff and editing skills.
PARAGRAPH 1	What is your passion? I’m passionate about expressing emotions through art and storytelling. I love creating art that carry feeling, emotion, story, or stuff that sometimes can’t be described with words.
PARAGRAPH 2	What’s motivate you to achieve your dream? I’m motivated to become a good game artist, I wish to wok in a game company since I really like playing games and admire the characters and environment.
SUMMARY	How do you want to visualize your dream into an artwork? Dreamy haze of dark pastel pink and purple skies full of stars.

 

2. Next, we were asked to write a statement about our work

INTRO	I would like to do the poster with genesis theme, with the vibes of dark futuristic aesthetic style poster
PARAGRAPH 1	What is the concept behind it? My poster was inspired by the fear of death in modern society, especially nowadays we live with unhealthy habits and artificial lifestyles, which is common. I Imagined a future where there might be a possibility that people can be revived through technology.
PARAGRAPH 2	What is the message you want people to understand it? This poster reflects the fear of death in modern times, and the idea that one day we might avoid it and got a second chance through technology. But if so, we might lose the essence of humanity. But who knows? The future is unknown~
SUMMARY	I focus on creating a dark futuristic vibes by combining human with technology, half human half robot (cyborg). In future, human might have a second chance to live again with the assist of high developed technology.

Summary of your design concept: I’m planning to create a futuristic vibes by combining human with technology, maybe half human half robot (cyborg). In future, human might have a second chance to live again with the assist of high developed technology.

FEEDBACK

I consulted with my lecturer Mr. Fauzi on this task, and he said I'm in the right track and the theme I choose align well with 3 of my mood boards. For him, he prefer me doing things like the first mood board (cyberpunk) or the third one (futuristic). At the end, I decided to choose to go with the futuristic vibe. 

REFLECTION

Experience - I finally understood how a theme like genesis could be expressed with different vibes. At first I thought genesis is like something so futuristic like white robotic environment, but after some research on this theme, I found out futuristic, cyberpunk, solarpunk, and others like sci-fi can also be considered as Genesis theme too.

Observation - I realized that each mood board might go to the same theme but the vibes of each mood board brings different emotions and tones. Like cyberpunk is more of chaotic busy city with colorful visual, while Solarpunk focuses on the combination of nature and technology, the greenish color give a calm visual. And Lastly futuristic which is dominated with white color can sometimes make the visual look cold, developed, and a bit lonely. 

 

Findings - I found out that each vibes brings different story, feels, and mood. It all depends on your story and what you want to create.
