REFLECTION

EXPERIENCES
From my experience, one of the most challenging part was unlearning the habit of treating typography as decoration. In advanced typography, every typographic choice like spacing, alignment, weight, and rhythm, all serves a functional purpose. Working with grids, kerning, tracking, and typographic hierarchy required patience and precision. This process trained me to slow down and critically think how text behaves within a layout rather than rushing toward a visually pleasing result.

OBSERVATIONS
Through observation, I noticed how subtle typographic adjustments can dramatically affect a design. Small changes in leading or letter spacing can show how comfortable a text felt to read, while hierarchy helped guide the reader’s attention naturally. I also observed how typography can communicates personality and emotion. A typeface can feel authoritative, playful, intimate, or cold depending on its structure and usage. These made me understand typography as a powerful tool when it comes to visual communication.

FINDINGS
I found out from this experience that advanced typography is deeply connected to empathy and intention. A successful typographic design includes the reader’s comfort, context, and emotional response. I learned that consistency are very important, but so is experimentation, like pushing boundaries carefully while still maintaining typographic principles. This balance between rules and creative freedom became a powerful key
