A.INITIAL PLAN
On the first week of this project, Jovanna and Felice had already look through several ideas from the VFX chosen.
There was a misunderstandings going on at first, because Jovanna thought the VFX group project means we look through the VFX together and made storyboard for individuals and edit on our own but help each other shoots. It was made clear by Mr. Kannan that it meant we shoot together and need to segregate roles.
First Storyboard
Felice and Jovanna made a simple storyboard for this idea. It was about Jovanna exercising (running) and Felice saw Jovanna and tried to annoy her which made Jovanna snap and show her what she's got.
Jovanna and Felice met on Week 11 and went to shoot. The plan was not executed properly because at this time we didn't got tripod and we also were late to borrow the studio so we tried to shoot by hand.
At the end, it was raining and the clips are not well made. The videos were shaky and we were panicking because it rained a bit.
B. NEW PLAN
This final project, we were assigned to make a VFX video with 2 person in a group. We could choose our own groupmate in class.

Before we start, we look up for some after effects / premiere pro tutorial video for our reference later for our editing.

Next we decide our theme, synopsis, and some references.
Theme: Silent Films (old 1890 - 1920s black and white movies)
Synopsis: The tired Jovanna wanted to drink
water but Felice wouldn't share. So, Jovanna
pull up a mysterious trick behind her sleeves.

Shot List & Storyboard:
1. SHOOTING
After done with all of this, we begin to shoot our shot in Taylors university. We borrowed our friends tripod and record using Jovanna's Iphone. We decided to meet up and shoot after VSP consultation class.
First thing first, we set up the tripod in the position we wanted. Next, We shoot each other as what we have did in our storyboard.
This shooting process took a whole day from 11am - 6 pm.

2. Compiling the videos (Premiere Pro)
After Done, shooting. Jovanna start to choose and compile up the video in premiere pro.
Next, the transition of the paper and the straw. We clipped this but from the way we shoot it we could've made the transition smoother. Jovanna's hand movement didn't really match the transition. Because of this, Jovanna decided to add video transition effect to make it dramatic and less obvious.
Jovanna also added dramatic transition at the end to enhance Felice's shocked face. She also added some one on the start and end (cross dissolve) and for the audio (constant gain).
Finally, Jovanna also play around with the color and reduce the saturation to 15 and copy the effect to every video clips.
Lastly, this one particular clip have a different coloring than the other clips so she color correct this one manually to make it look like they have the same tone and value.
3. PHOTO MANIPULATION (PHOTOSHOP)
Felice on the other hand, edit and manipulate the lake photo into dry lake following the tutorial in photoshop.
Our initial plan were for Jovanna to edit the video on Adobe Premiere Pro and Felice edit the lake and VFX on Photoshop and After Effects so after Felice is done she can just export the video and Jovanna would help combining them.

Delete the selected lake, and replace it with stock photos Felice found.

From these stock photos, Felice cut out some of them and compile it together to create the look of dry lake, combining each photo creating dimension so it looks realistic when combine it with univ lake.
Felice also did some color correction with the photo before exporting it.

4. EDITING VFX (AFTER EFFECTS)
After Felice is done with photo manipulation, Felice and Jovanna together continue to edit drying lake shot on after effect.
Felice First input all the file we needed, and mask Jovannna using roto brush tool and freeze it.
Next, felice mask the dry lake from the selection she had made and export from psd using track matte.

Masking by using track matte and set it to luma mate.
And after Felice done, She export and send her After effects file to Jovanna so she can edit and proceed the next step.
Jovanna first rename the file names. Roto means the rotoscoping on Jovanna's body. The files below roto is an mp4 files of splashing water Jovanna got for free online. Clean plate would mean clips of the lake without Jovanna. Dry lake mask and lake were the photoshop files. Main shot is the original full shot.
Next, she masked the lake and reduce the mask expansion on the time where Jovanna came and drink the lake. She added ease in and ease out to make a smoother effect.
Jovanna added border and increase it to 96.9 px as shown in tutorial. The scale were put to maximum which is 1000.
Here, Jovanna decided that it's best to reduce the lake opacity to 89% so the "insides" would show. It looked less awkward with the water showing what's underneath. It also gives off the vibes of being shallow near but deeper the farther it goes.
To finish everything off, Jovanna looked through a splashing water video for when the straw goes inside the lake. This made the overall composition felt more real.
After she finished, Jovanna export the video and combine it with the other shots and reduce the saturation like every other clips.
While Jovanna is doing that, Felice compile up the progress and write it up on the e portfolio so later she could share it with Jovanna
